USEA Area IV YR Classic 3-Day Scholarship

The Area IV Young Rider Classic 3-Day Scholarship was developed in 2023 through the efforts of the Area IV Young Rider Youth Council with the purpose of providing the educational and competitive opportunity to attend a Classic 3-Day event in the United States.

One (1) Area IV Young Rider Classic 3-Day Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded annually. 

The Area IV Young Rider Classic 3-Day Scholarship recipient will be announced by May 31.

Scholarship recipient is required to submit an article to Barb McMorris detailing his/her experience within 3 months of completion of the event to receive scholarship funds.

Funds will be distributed upon verified attendance at a Classic 3-Day and submission of the required article to USEA Area IV Young Riders.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be current USEA Area IV Young Rider member who resides and competes at least once within Area IV during the season.

  • Applicants must have met the USEF/USEA Minimum Eligibility Requirements for the intended level of the Classic 3-Day. 

  • Additional qualification standards include service to the sport, involvement in the Area IV Young Rider Program, and demonstration of attention to horsemanship and sportsmanship. 

Application Process:

  • Essay: Who or what has inspired you to experience a Classic 3-Day event and what do you find most intriguing about this experience?

  • Letters of Recommendation: Submit 1 letter of recommendation from an equine professional who has a personal working knowledge of your horsemanship. 

  • Proposed competition calendar for preparation for the event

  • Current training plan 

  • Applications must be submitted to Area IV Young Riders.

  • Application Deadline: May 10, 2024, at 11:59pm CDT.

  • Scholarship recipient will be notified by May 31, 2024.
